The impact of COVID-19 on pediatric vaccinations

Medical Pharmaceutical Translations • Jul 1, 2020 12:00:00 AM

The coronavirus pandemic and our response to it have changed the healthcare industry in both (hopefully) temporary and long-term ways.

One interesting phenomenon is pediatric vaccinations. A survey by GlaxoSmithKline asked 2511 UK families about vaccinating their children.

On the one hand, the good news is that 45% of respondents believe that vaccinations are more important than ever. On the other hand, while 91% of parents had no problem taking their child to a medical center to be vaccinated before the pandemic, now only 27% feel at ease, due to fears of exposure to COVID-19.

Like the pandemic itself, this issue isn’t limited to the UK. For instance, the CDC has also reported a significantly lower number of children getting vaccinations since lockdown measures began in the US.

Read on to learn more about the impact of coronavirus on pediatric vaccinations in the UK.
