Medical Pharmaceutical Translations • Sep 24, 2020 12:00:00 AM

As a general rule, it’s a good idea to keep a clean home, and not just if you have guests; dust and unchecked bacteria growth can of course lead to health issues.

So it seems like regularly vacuuming is a good idea. Well, it turns out that in certain cases, vacuuming can actually be bad for your health.

In a recent article, journalist Beth Skwarecki points out that vacuuming may get rid of most dust, but it also disturbs dust and leaves some of it in the air. This is especially problematic if you’re in an area that’s currently experiencing wildfires. In this case, local health authorities actually discourage vacuuming.

Even in a best-case scenario, the article points out, vacuums aren’t sucking up 100% of the dust in your home. Fortunately, there are ways to improve that, and, if you have a dust allergy or other medical condition, to keep yourself safe.

Read on to learn more about the downsides of a standard household chore, and some possible solutions.
